Announcing: Amoreena's first single "Mars"

Amoreena Athanas is a local singer-songwriter in the greater Washington, DC, area. She plays her original music live in DC, MD, and VA and is now releasing her first single!

"Mars" is inspired by Amoreena's personal experience of living a long-distance life while following her passions. It begs the question of whether dreams are worth the cost. Lyrically, the song is full of imagery.

"I invite listeners to join me on a journey from the depths of the sea to the surface of the ocean, and then into the sky where I imagine glistening opals are floating in space. They're just close enough to reach out and grasp," Amoreena explains. "It's a metaphor for the beauty we encounter when we take risks. But there is always fear to overcome."

The song is co-produced by Peter Strobl (bass), with Greta Thomas on violin and Kristen Jones on cello. Amoreena also plays piano on her song.

"Let me fly away, to outer space, and I'll land among the stars. Let me fly so high, I'll soar through the skies, and I'll bring back a piece of Mars for you" --excerpt from "Mars."
